Baltimore County 4-H Livestock Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsor: The Baltimore County 4-H Livestock Sale Committee
Effective Date of Award: Summer 2025. To be awarded at the 2025 Baltimore County 4-H Livestock Sale
Award: Proposed scholarship up to (two, 2) $1,000 scholarships
Objective: To provide funds for furthering education beyond high school
Usage: Fully Accredited College, Trade School or Technical School
Eligibility: Applicant must:

Be an active member of the Baltimore County 4-H Program; or have been a Baltimore County 4- H alumni who has not passed their 21st year of age.
Be a graduate of an area high school or equivalent.
Have been involved in animal science/livestock project.
Have participated in the Baltimore County 4-H Livestock Sale at least three times in 4-H career; one time as a Senior member (age 14-18)
Complete application including essay.
Submit an official Baltimore County Senior Portfolio from the previous year or updated resume if a 4-H alumni.
Submit two letters of recommendation (from volunteers, organizations, teachers, advisors, etc.)
Previous recipients may not apply.

Application will be given a 2-year consideration.

Selection Committee: Applications will be reviewed, and applicants interviewed by a Scholarship Selection Committee. The Committee will be comprised of at least one member from the Baltimore County 4-H Livestock Scholarship Committee and one Extension representative.
Method of Selection: The application with essay, official Baltimore County 4-H Record Book or resume of an alumni, the interview, and letters of recommendation will be used to determine the
recipient(s).
Essay: “How my 4-H Livestock Project Work has impacted my life” (Essay should not exceed 1,000 words typed, double spaced)
Record Book: All 4-H applicants must submit the previous years Baltimore County 4-H Senior Portfolio.

All 4-H alumni must submit an updated resume.
Current resume should include but not limited to community service, livestock activities, overall contributions to the 4-H livestock program, 4-H involvement and extra-curricular activities.

Interview: All applicants must interview with the Selection Committee to be considered for the scholarship. The applicant will be notified of the interview date and time.

Each year at our Achievement Day, special awards are presented to outstanding 4-Hers and Volunteers. Please take into consideration that some of the awards are geared toward older 4-Hers as they have demonstrated the necessary accomplishments throughout the years. Younger members have many years to look forward to and can set goals to work towards these awards in the future.

Other than the Points of Light award, an award winner can not receive the same award more than once in their 4-H career.
Nominations should be USING THIS FORM by MARCH 28TH.
