Welcome to the Baltimore County Fair
Volunteers that Love to Help
The first Baltimore County 4-H Fair was held at the Eudowood Plaza Shopping Center near Towson, Maryland in 1964! The fair was the vision come-to-life of the 4-H extension agent, Norman Smith. The 4-H leaders saw it as an opportunity for the 4-H Youth of Baltimore County to showcase not only their livestock exhibits, but their non-animal projects as well.
After the first successful 4-H Fair, the event was moved to the Maryland State Fairgrounds, where it is still held, today. In 1965, a Fair Board was formed with the intentions of planning and organizing the annual event. Mr. William Langlotz of Hereford, Maryland, served as the first Fair Board President. Bill continues to be an active 4-H Fair supporter! In the early years, 4-H livestock were housed in open air barns on the MD State Fairgrounds. With modern innovations, technology and upgrades, these barns were replaced by the current indoor arena barn, also known as, “The Cow Palace.”
The 4-H Fair Board and Fair event is organized and ran by hundreds of volunteers every year to provide an opportunity to Baltimore County’s youth to participate and exhibit their projects! It is The Board’s goal to continue the fair with honesty, leadership, and lasting memories. Join us! Visit the “contact us” link to
